Urban Indigenous Women’s Leadership

Surrey is home to the largest urban Indigenous population in British Columbia and represents a rich diversity of Indigenous nations but 85% of Indigenous single parents in Surrey are women with low-income status therefore urban Indigenous women’s leadership programs are needed to empower Indigenous women to develop their voice and become advocates for change.

The Ambassadors program is a wholistic approach to Indigenous leadership development, rooted in cultural values, community engagement, and social change. It aims to provide opportunities for Ambassadors to enact empowerment, connection, and advocacy within Surrey’s urban Indigenous community.
